Our dream, a vision, a desire for a wonderful learning environment for children. To serve the needs of the child starting from 1.5 up to 6 years. Dr. Maria Montessori’s work show us the importance of early learning in child’s life. To provide them with real life experience in various areas not only educational but practical, sensorial, cultural, language, art, food and music. Provide them opportunity to explore and be creative. To enjoy the beauty and joy of life, to be independent, to be humane and to create a better world for them.
LIFE AT TMH:
Dr. Montessori’s work highlights mixed age group classrooms. In a toddler’s environment children between 1.5 – 3 years of age work together in the same environment and in primary, children between 3-6 years of age work in the same prepared environment. Though the adult work with individual child according to their need, being in the same prepared environment children learn from one another, they help each other. The child develops in his environment through activity and through a proper guidance and an indispensable understanding.
Montessori Philosophy
Montessori Education was created by Dr. Maria Montessori after years of scientific observations and work with children. Based on her observations and research, she created various developmentally appropriate materials for children to work with in a supportive environment as she believed that ‘a child’s work is to create the person he/she will become’. Montessori’s method and discoveries are being followed worldwide by several educators for over a century. Montessori founded the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) in 1929, at Amsterdam, Netherlands. AMI is recognised internationally as the custodian and cultivator of Montessori philosophy and pedagogy. Further information can be found at www.montessori-ami.org.
The Montessori House wishes to provide an authentic Montessori experience for you and your child and is committed to adhering to the practices mentioned below:
- Our environment is created to help children learn at their own pace based on their abilities and interests. Students will work individually, in small or large groups.
- We take great care in preparing the right kind of environment which resonates beauty, grace, purpose, variety, order and accessibility, keeping the child’s developmental needs in mind.
- Maria Montessori said, “The hand is the instrument of the mind”. The concrete learning materials in our environment helps children learn abstract concepts and develop a deeper understanding for the topics presented to them.
- The students have the freedom of choice, to choose their own work and move around freely in the environment helping them become active, independent and self motivated individuals. Freedom comes with responsibility, so students have to follow the rules of the community and are redirected if they are unable to do so.

Montessori setting gives the children an experience of how a society works, by taking care of others and the environment as well as following the rules. The children are encouraged to cooperate and collaborate with each other. Our focus will be on character development.
